History

Gaming Online has gone back a long way.  Believe it or not though, I never had any intentions to evolve this website into the valuable resource you see today.  Gaming Online was — in fact — launched for no more a reason then to allow me to put my knowledge to use while I taught myself HTML (the primary programming language of web design).

The framework for this site began on its launch in September of 1998.  At the time, the site was called PSX Cheats Galore, and offered cheat codes for a measly fifteen (15) PlayStation games.  Needless to say, the website was far from being the end-all of gaming websites.

Months passed as I continued adding to the site, and I decided to change the name of the company.  Yes, I will warn you now, the following name is quite honestly absolutely truly pathetically terrible.  Forgive me, I was young.  PSX Cheats Galore morphed into PCG.  You may have caught on, but "PCG" was nothing more than an acronym of "PSX Cheat Galore." However, the slight change was done for reason; I was hoping to attract both a new and old audience.  The fact was, I couldn't imagine many visitors returning to the site when it was in its bare-bones stage of life.  The name change invited those old visitors back for a second chance at the site.

Don't worry, it only took me a few months to realize that I actually named a video game site "PCG." We then became known as PSXonline, and it was this stage of our business' development when the site truly came into its own.

PSXonline featured a more professional design, and had a wealth of resources to back up any visitor's expectations.  The popularity of the site finally began to grow — not because of advertising, but because of work-of-mouth.

Despite the success of the site, it did experience a down-time.  For about six months, PSXonline went offline.  I knew I needed something fresh.  I needed more than just PlayStation material for a growing market being populated by Sega, Nintendo, and other companies.  I needed something big.

On Christmas Day, 1999, after much anticipation, Gaming Online came into being.  We opened our doors triple the size of before, and once again, with a whole new look.  At the time we supported the Sega Dreamcast, Nintendo 64, and of course, the PlayStation.  Since those days, we have grown exponentially.

Things today are still going great.  We have done our best to stay on top of the ever-changing video game market, and currently support fifteen (15) video game consoles.  I am happy to say I still love updating and evolving the website, and I hope you enjoy what it has become as well.

To all our dedicated visitors, whether you have been with us for a long time, or have just become addicted, we sincerely thank you.  We love working for you, and will always cherish any feedback you may have.

Enjoy.
