Oct.
22, 2004 - Seeking to redefine their series last year, Electronic Arts
introduced Need for Speed: Underground, an entirely new rendition of the game.
No doubt we at Gaming Online had a lot of fun playing this game, but EA is now
preparing to release a massive expansion on the game with NFS Underground 2.
NFSU2 will be about five times the size of the previous game and
will take place in the fictional Bayview City. Also, each part of the city
will have different sections for auto part shops, facing certain drivers, and
racing in a different style.
Another cool addition to the game is the test track. Here,
you can test out all your new parts and additions and, if you don't like them,
you can change them back instantly.
The line-up of cars is still pretty unknown, but it is rumored
that there will be 30 licensed vehicles for the taking.
Drivers start out with a little bit of money to buy a
not-so-hot car. However, as drivers begins to prove themselves, they make
more money and, in turn, get better, nicer looking cars. Your goal is to
find the "Underground Tuner Culture."
Races can be found simply by exploring the city or by using your
PDA. Using the PDA, you will be notified of upcoming races.
Opponents may be found simply by driving around the streets.
On the amazing side, the game is going to be completely
streamlined. In other words, you will not see a "loading screen" once you
start-up the game. You can drive across the entire, huge city without
waiting for the are to load.
We'll have more to tell you as more information becomes
available.
